World's leading supplier of on-chip network (NoC) technologies and services – Sonics Inc., has got the license to integrate Drone system on chip (SoC) from the Shanghai-based company Artosyn Microelectronics. Artosyn Microelectronics is presently using SonicsGN as the IP integration technology for new system on chip design. This new system on chip design basically combines all the drone functions into a single device – something which was earlier done on separate chips.

This move by Artosyn, an innovative drone subsytem supplier, is a testimony of how Sonic's NoC has successfully created a market of its own in the chinese SoC marketplace. In order to come up with next generation drones, Artosyn will be integrating their video encoder, modem as well as system controller IP into a single-chip solution. This single-chip solution will be fabricated in 40 nanomater silicon.

With its proven track record in the on-chip networktechnology and businesses related to it, Sonics will address some of the major drone design issues like complexity and power consumption by the drones. The granting of this license by Artosyn will redefine the sphere of system on chip design and change the way in which drones will be build in the future.
