ISTANBUL, Turkey—December 30, 2015—The Collective, a group of “anyone who believes in a better world” recently announced their idea of a New World of city-states. This would be a world without countries, without governments, without kingdoms or empires. They believe if there were city-states the first benefit would be, being able to rule themselves with direct democracy. If there are tens of millions people living in a country, as today, it is inevitable to have indirect democracy. But what if the whole country were just a city like in Ancient Greek? Then, they could rule themselves with the help of internet. This direct democracy could easily be organized online in city-states. It would almost be like discussing on a Facebook group. They also don’t understand why society has a closed voting system today. “We are deciding our future together with my neighbor, but I don’t know what he/she is voting for. Why?” There should be open voting like the Ancient Greeks. The Collective believes the people should be able to discuss online each law and everyone should represent themselves openly. They believe they should be able to offer a law, or offer to change a law, as a birth-right, in the city-state that person is living in. Anyone should be able to offer a law draft, with enough “thumbs ups” or “likes” that draft should turn into a law offer. Then they can vote online and see if it should become a new law or not.

The Collective says another great benefit of the New World of city-states would be there won’t be any governments as society knows today. There won’t be kings or emperors. Race won’t matter anymore, and people can live in any city-state where they find like-minded people. Today’s trying to build a harmony from a heterogeneous community will be over. In city-states, there will be more homogeneous crowds living together. So, in order to get their idea and voice heard, The Collective would like to publish their manifesto in the New York Times. However, before they can publish this manifesto and be heard, The Collective needs help. That’s why they launched this Kickstarter campaign. The goal of this project is to raise £50,000 by February 26, 2016. The funds raised will go towards publishing the manifesto.

To help bring the manifesto to publication, please visit the Kickstarter campaign or click here. Perks will be delivered by March 2016.

Please keep in mind this is an “all-or-nothing” deal, which means if the campaign does not reach the funding goal then the project cannot move forward. So know that any amount given can make a difference, and this is an incredible opportunity to be a part of a special campaign! Help The Collective reach the goal by sharing this on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks. The more people know about this, the more support the campaign will receive.
