BURGDORF, Switzerland—January 4, 2016—HACKIT CLOUD, a datacenter revolution, that brings the idea of “living in a cloud” to life was recently announced. This is an idea where people and their digital data can share one home! Imagine how it would be if a person knew that they have a part of a big datacenter behind the cupboard of their kitchen? They can live, stay, sleep, eat, shower, and more inside a cloud datacenter. In order to do this, HACKIT plans on building three stations that have a CO2 neutral, integrated Cloud-Datacenter, in which a person can live in. This “Cloud” includes email solution with mobile and web access. It’s a cloud similar to “Dropbox” or “Microsoft OneDrive.” Prototypes and models are available for preview here.
The idea behind HACKIT CLOUD came from the questions, why do people create big and bigger datacenters/cloud-centers. They are so big that they could be seen from space. Of course, they have more and more data that must be stored somewhere - but why do they not use "space-sharing" or integrate them into existing buildings? So, HACKIT decided to build their own Datacenter and Cloud solution named "HACKIT CLOUD", powered by 100% natural and renewable energy sources, no cooling system required, consumes just about 180Watts, no datacenter buildings needed, auto-scalable and entirely redundant. However, before people can share their home with their digital data, HACKIT CLOUD needs help. That’s why they launched this Kickstarter campaign. The goal of this project is to raise FR 80,000 by February 15, 2016. The funds raised will go towards land and building cloud stations.
