Will Lead Texas offices of Nation’s Only Woman, African-American and Latino-Owned Investment Banking Firm
Siebert Brandford Shank & Co., LLC (www.sbsco.com), the nation’s only majority woman, African-American, and Latino-owned investment banking firm, today announced that Keith Richard has joined the firm as Managing Director and will lead the Texas region. He will be based in the firm’s Houston office.
Mr. Richard comes to SBSCO from Morgan Stanley, where he re-opened that firm’s Houston public finance office. While serving as executive director at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Richard managed several major financings, serving as lead banker on a $500 million senior managed financing for the City of Houston Airport System, several transactions for the Houston Independent School District totaling over $600 million, among many other projects. He also recently served as a senior banker on senior managed financings for the City of Dallas and the Dallas Independent School District.
A 19-year veteran of the industry, Mr. Richard previously worked as director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and as vice president at Lehman Brothers. He began his career at SBSCO as an analyst, associate and vice president. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Southern Methodist University and holds Series 7, 52, 63, and 79 licenses.
“We are thrilled that Keith will be coming back to SBSCO, where his career began,” said Chairwoman and CEO Suzanne Shank, majority owner of the firm. “He will bring with him his impressive record of accomplishment in the municipal bond underwriting field and will help lead the way in bringing new opportunities for growth to our firm. Our nation faces a $1 trillion infrastructure funding gap and the need for investment in this field is greater than ever.”
“The Texas market has been and will continue to be a critically important market for the firm,” said Gary Hall, National Head of Public Finance - Investment Banking. “Keith is extremely talented and his broad and extensive experience in the field will provide the kind of leadership our clients expect and deserve. We welcome him aboard.”
“I am so happy to be returning to SBSCO, where my career started and where I really learned the business,” Richard said. “Joining a preeminent firm with such top-tier talent is an exciting challenge and I know we will enjoy continued success.”
Siebert Brandford Shank was co-founded in 1996 by Ms. Shank and the late Muriel Siebert, the first woman to own a seat on the New York Stock Exchange.
In November, the firm announced a new ownership structure. Joining Ms. Shank as owners were Hon. Henry Cisneros, former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and the Mayor of San Antonio; Hon. William C. Thompson, Chief Administration Officer and Managing Director of SBSCO and the former New York City Comptroller; Sean Duffy, SBSCO’s Senior Managing Director of Institutional Sales; and Victor Miramontes, previously the CEO of North American Development Bank.
In 2015, SBSCO was the #1 ranked MWBE and in the Top 15 of all municipal bond underwriting firms. Since its inception, SBSCO has underwritten more than $2 trillion in financial transactions for its clients and many critical infrastructure projects. On the municipal side, SBSCO has transacted more than $1.3 trillion and has been ranked the #1 minority and women owned municipal finance firm since 1998. With dual headquarters in New York and Oakland, CA, SBSCO maintains 17 offices nationwide, including in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.
