THREE RIVERS, Calif., Jan.11, 2016, — Dr. Christianne Schelling, a well-known veterinarian who opposes cat declaws, has written an article discussing and explaining her position. The article outlines why Dr. Schelling believes that declaw surgeries are inhumane, citing pain, infection, and mental anguish among other reasons. Dr. Schelling is not the only one against declaw surgeries; the article also discusses that some countries in the world and cities in the US have banned declawing.

Dr. Schelling, the president of Aquanta, LLC, believes that providing people with alternatives to declawing their cats, along with educating them about the harmful surgery and the general benefits of scratching for cats, will help stop what she considers to be an inhumane practice. To this end, she operates the websites declawing.com, softpaws.com, and purrfectpost.com, all of which provide education about and alternatives to declawing.
