NANTWICH, United Kingdom—January 13, 2016—The Nudgu Reminder App, an innovative application for dementia or diabetes caregivers, was recently announced. Nudgu Reminders is a service for caregivers of people with dementia to remind their loved ones of important recurring or one-off events by a recorded message to their home land-line phone. Nudgu is a simple service that helps people balance the care they provide to their loved one with other everyday commitments. A carer can record brief messages in advance, such as a medication reminder or just a simple hello. Nudgu will phone their loved one, playing the message at just the right time – even if the user is not available or their phone is switched off. There is no other reminder app that can deliver recorded messages to traditional home phones. This differentiation is important as many people with dementia struggle with unfamiliar devices. The App notifies the caregiver if the reminder was listened to or not. A patent application has been filed for the techniques that they use.
The creators, Jonny and his sister Louise, struggled to find a way for their mother Mina to live independently as she often forgot medication and appointments. There was no technology available that Mina could use and reassure Jonny that reminders were being received. Nudgu Reminders has been well-received by all those who use it, and it was the winner in the 2015 Dabbers Den Awards in the creator’s hometown of Nantwich. The minimum viable product has been financed from the founder’s savings and is available for their beta testers on the Apple and Google stores. It will be published in both stores in the UK during January and in the US in February. However, before people can use this innovative, reminding app, Nudgu Reminders needs help. That’s why they launched this Kickstarter campaign. The goal of this project is to raise £5,000 by February 10, 2016. The funds raised will go towards adding support for other countries, besides the UK and the US, to help a wider community of caregivers.
