Key Findings

• Hong Kong’s travel and tourism sector performed well during the historic period (2009–2014), supported by a rise in both domestic and inbound trips. International arrivals to the country increased at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.41%, with total inbound tourist expenditure rising at a historic period CAGR of 7.91%. The main factors for growth were government efforts to promote the country’s travel and tourism sector on an international level. • Hong Kong Airlines has launched an in-flight service in 2015 called "Sweeten You Up". This service includes different packages for occasions such as marriage proposals, anniversaries, and birthdays. Through this service, the passenger can celebrate the occasion while onboard by making a preliminary booking for the particular service required. For the promotion of this service, the airline has launched a separate website and also made this facility available on its mobile application

• Overall, Macao registered a decline in arrivals by 3.5% during the first seven months in 2015, so in order to attract more tourists from Hong Kong, the Tourist Office of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) launched an “Experience Macao Carnival” road show in Hong Kong. This road show was held in order to promote events such as the Macao Grand Prix and "Parade through Macao, Latin City“, which is a cultural event conducted annually by the Cultural Affairs Bureau
